The dairy recognises that the introduction of new products and diversification of existing product ranges are key elements in positive consumer perceptions regarding Al Ain Dairy. As such, the dairy invests considerable time and effort in researching new product ideas, ensuring high quality and safety of all products as paramount.

Through strategic international partnerships with major dairies, Al Ain Dairy continually works to diversify its product range, benefiting from partner expertise and processes to successfully launch new products in the UAE market. In recent years, Al Ain Dairy has primarily concentrated on the well being of consumers with the introduction of many pioneering new health products.

Several divisions work together to develop new products. Once the idea and concept has been identified and agreed, the development process begins with extensive sampling and evaluation of similar comparative products to determine the new product characteristics.

Required ingredients are then identified and sourced, as the prototype product is established. Product processing parameters are decided, often in association and consultation with the dairy’s international partners. Trials of the new product are then conducted and laboratory tests are carried out simultaneously to ensure that the new product conforms to required specifications and standards. Sensory evaluation tests are then performed using internal samplers as taste panellists.

Adjustments are made to the new product formulae according to these results and trials are continued until the product has conformed to the targets set. At this stage, a financial feasibility study is conducted to assess the viability of mass production of the new product. Demand forecasting exercises are completed and the decision is made whether or not to proceed and introduce the new product to market.

The product research and development team work continually to ensure product optimisation by re-evaluating formulae and ingredients used to offer customers the most tasty and nutritious products possible.

The ongoing cycle of development is continued with the research and development team working with the marketing department to establish product extension and diversification according to market dynamics and need.
